Wendy Baker

My name is Wendy Baker. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina in 1976. I was a combined Special Education and Elementary Education Major. I specialized in the field of Learning Disabilities.   I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980.

I  taught special education in Greenville, South Carolina, Randolph, Vermont and Vassalboro, Maine before coming to the George J. Mitchell School in 1995. For the last three years, I have been involved in learning about Response to Intervention, an innovative program which uses formative evaluation and teacher input to make instructional decisions while seeking a variety of ways to help students become successful readers.
